It is an exciting time in the Admission office as Cindy Silver and I welcome three new team members: Joshua Pelkey, Sarah Wilfred and Eliot Taft.
The A-Team is busy finalizing our travel plans for the year, and we are already scheduled to attend school fairs throughout the United States, Asia and the Caribbean. We can’t wait to introduce a new audience to WMS and find the best new students for the 2017-2018 school year.
Do you have a friend or family member who may be interested in attending WMS? Please feel free to share my email address or reach out to me for information you can pass along!
Director of Multicultural Recruitment, Associate Director of Admission
Sarah is a graduate of Thayer Academy and Cornell University, where she earned a B.A. in Biology. After college, she took a year off to work toward qualifying for the 2008 Olympics in high jump, but she fell just short. (Pun intended). Sarah initially entered the medical research field but was soon drawn back to secondary education. Prior to joining the WMS Admission Team, Sarah worked for Boston Public Schools and Uncommon Schools at Roxbury Preparatory Charter School. She is passionate about education and is excited to be part of the WMS community.
Director of International Student Recruitment, Associate Director of Admission
Joshua, a Vermont native, is a graduate of the University of Vermont and the Longy School of Music at Bard College, where he received his Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Opera Studies. Between UVM and Longy, Josh worked at the Pine Ridge School (now closed) in Vermont as a tutor and residential instructor. Prior to joining the WMS Admission Team, he worked at Education First Language School, coordinating host families and student residential living. He also worked at the United Schools Association, an international high school boarding program. Josh loves the boarding school life — WMS is his fourth boarding school! He also loves to travel and has traveled internationally for work and as a performer.
Assistant Director of Admission and Communication
Eliot grew up in Massachusetts on the campus of Deerfield Academy. After graduating from Deerfield, Eliot attended Bowdoin College, where he received degrees in English and Environmental Studies in May 2015. Prior to joining the WMS Admission Team, he worked at the Vail Ski and Snowboard Club as an academic coach and an admission and communications assistant. He also worked at the Darwin Ranch in Wyoming as a sustainability coordinator and led trips for Overland. Eliot loves the WMS community and looks forward to being involved in Field Courses and other co-curriculars.
