Alon Tatsas ’93

When Alon Tatsas graduated from The White Mountain School, he went on to complete his BS at Juniata College in Bethlehem, PA.  Then he took a long journey south to New Orleans to complete his medical school training at Tulane University. Alon remained in New Orleans, completing his residency in Anesthesiology. After eight years in New Orleans, Alon moved on to Nashville, Tennessee to complete a subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University. Since the completion of his training, Alon has taken on a life of a “traveling anesthesiologist,” providing locum tenens (temporary) coverage where needed. His work has taken him through ten states and numerous facilities, from Indian Health Service in Arizona to subspecialty pediatric hospitals in Boston and Philadelphia. Alon learned valuable interpersonal and teamwork skills at WMS that have translated well to the work he does today. In each new clinical environment, Alon must not only use his clinical skills he learned through his training, but must also adapt to working with a new team dynamic and workflow.

After living in Nashville and Baltimore for several years, Alon and his wife Amy recently returned to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, her hometown.  They are raising two young daughters, Natasha and Sarah.  They made the trek (Sarah in utero) to WMS for the 125th reunion. Alon and his family try to enjoy outdoor adventures wherever they go and Alon has remained an avid cyclist and outdoorsman throughout his training and medical practice.  His road bicycle has traveled with him to assignments from the east coast to Nebraska, and he has found time to hike when working in Arizona and West Virginia.
