Hi WMS Families!
Please see this weekend’s schedule, chock full of great activities!
This weekend, WMS is very excited to host the 13th annual USA Climbing bouldering competition in our amazing climbing gym.
This competition is part of the nationwide American Bouldering Series (ABS) held each fall This past week, our student climbers were busy stripping all of the holds from our wall, cleaning them and getting everything ready for the professional routesetters to come and prepare fun and challenging new routes for this competition. The ABS draws competitors from all over New England and is open to all levels of climbers from those trying out their first competition to those seeking to qualify for ABS Regionals and Nationals. Good luck to members of the WMS Sport Climbing Team as they compete in their “home” gym!
As we wind down our fall season, it is a good time to remind folks that next Friday evening we will host our Fall Sports Awards. This ceremony gives all of our fall coaches a chance to reflect publicly on their seasons and to highlight their team’s or group’s efforts and achievements. For the first time in eight years, I will not be hosting sports awards as Brent has taken over this role. It is sad for me as I very much enjoy sharing actively in this great event. On the plus side, Brent has promised he will be able to end it on time for dinner (something I was never able to do!) Held at 5pm in the Great Hall, families are welcome to join us for this event and the Community Dinner that follows it. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Betsie Peter at email@example.com.
As I mentioned last week, students have all signed up for their winter sport(s). Attached you will find a ski pass form and liability release. If your child has signed up for skiing in some form where s/he will need a pass, please fill these out, sign them and return them with payment to the business office. If sufficient funds are available, your child’s debit account may be used for this purchase. Please note that prices for some passes, including the Bold and Beautiful will go up on November 30th, so it would be good to have these returned before Thanksgiving break. We do ask that anyone buying a pass for the season (including day students) does it through our office since Cannon provides our ski coaching faculty with passes based on the total number of passes that we order. If you have any questions about winter sports, please reach out to Brent. Questions about passes and payment, etc . . . can go to Meglyn in the business office.
With Thanksgiving break coming up quickly, it is time for me to give thanks to those who have already communicated their child’s travel plans. Thanksgiving Break begins after students’ last commitments the afternoon of Friday 11/21. Our buses leave for Manchester airport at 6:30 am Saturday and the Concord Coach bus to Boston (South Station and Logan Airport) leaves Saturday morning at 6:50am. Dorms close for the break at noon on Saturday. Boarding students return to school on Monday, December 1st and classes resume on Tuesday, December 2nd. Please don’t hesitate to let me or Betsie know if you have any travel questions or concerns!
On a scheduling note, the Boys Soccer game tomorrow at Dublin School has been canceled. The Girls Soccer game at Dublin is on at 3pm (changed from the original time of 3:30).
Have a great weekend and let me know if you have any questions!
