Twenty-nine racers skied the course, ranging in age from 3 to 81 years old.
The 125th Celebration Alumnae/i Ski Race Weekend was a spectacular success! Conditions at Cannon were very good given the low-snow year we’re having in northern New Hampshire. Twenty-nine racers skied the course on Time Zone and ranged in age from 3 years to 81 years old. The overall fastest time was skied by WMS racer, Stephen Bogan ’14. Grover Daniels ’76 was the overall alumnae/i winner. Taking a close second, was Nathan Hazard ‘92. The fastest female racer was Callie Philips Pecunies ’90. Light Blue racers outnumbered Dark Blue racers, so participation points were awarded to the Light Blue team’s 2011-2012 tally.
A number of other alumnae/i, their families, current students and their families, current and former trustees, and current and former faculty joined the racers on the slopes of Cannon later in the day. Another group hit the campus trails for a winter hike and even more WMS and SMSers gathered at The Horse and Hound for the après ski event! On Sunday morning some alumnae/i and their families and trustees joined current WMS students for brunch at the School and then took advantage of all that our fitness center and climbing wall has to offer. Over 60 people in all participated in this ski weekend event!
A number of volunteers worked hard to make this weekend a success. Special thanks go out to organizer, Betsey Philips (parent ’90), chief of race, Hal Melanson ’76, timers, Jen Bogan (parent ’14) and Dave Willis (parent ’13), registration table organizer, Starr Jordan Moore ’58 and Cannon Mountain liason, Julianne Ireland ’03 and to volunteer extraordinaire Jodie Clark ‘13. Thanks so very much to each of you!
Everyone had a fantastic time at this 125th Anniversary Celebration event and there are serious rumblings about making the WMS/SMS Alumnae/i Ski Weekend an annual event again!
