Light Blue vs. Dark Blue kicked off with an explosion of enthusiasm from students and faculty alike! Read the line-up of events and find out which side emerged from this weekend in the lead.
Hi WMS Families,
Attached you will find a copy of this coming weekend’s schedule. This is our “Community Weekend” and is filled with awesome activities. It is truly one of the highlights of the year for many of us.
It has been a great start to the year! Despite dire predictions of inclement weather, our Orientation Trips managed to stay mostly dry for three great days in the field. It has been wonderful to hear the stories of student’s adventures and see in reality the connections they made with peers and teachers while biking, canoeing, hiking and climbing around the northeast. Photos from some of these trips are up on the school’s Picasa page. We hope to have photos from the remaining trips up there soon.
Classes and sports have begun and students are beginning to settle into a typical school routine. I am close enough to Shane’s office to know that student schedules are still being fine-tuned and a few kinks worked out for some students, but overall things are rolling nicely along. If you have any questions about your child’s schedule, please let Shane or Sheena know. Next week, I will use this space to point out some features on the parent portal (want to know if your child is late to class?) that you hopefully will find helpful in remaining connected to what is happening here on campus with your student.
All students have had a number of meetings with their advisors over the past few days. Advisors use this time to check in and and find out how things are going and to make sure students are up to speed on all that is happening. All advisors are also asked to check in with parents before the end of this weekend, so you should have a direct update on how things are going with your child (I’ve heard they don’t always call home daily to provide these updates) in very short order. Next Friday, we will hold our first Advisor/Advisee dinner of the year where Advisors commonly host advisees in their homes and make dinner as a group. I know that my family (in particular our 5 year-old and our golden retriever) really look forward to these gatherings.
It was great getting a chance to meet many of you last weekend as you dropped off your children with us. We would love to hear any feedback that you might have to offer about your experience on Registration Day (and/or the whole registration process in general). We always seek to make improvements where we can and your feedback is essential to that process, so thank you in advance!
As always, if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me or your child’s advisor at any point. Especially early in the year when much is new to everyone, let us know if there is anything we can do to help or to make things smoother for you and your WMS student.
Have a great weekend!

By the weekend’s conclusion, Dark Blue led with 356 points, while Light Blue followed close behind with a score of 350. Looks like it’s going to be a close race this year. Go Blue!
