This spring break, Head of School Tim Breen visited students, family, and alumni in Beijing and Shanghai!
While the students of The White Mountain School were enjoying their spring break, Head of School Tim Breen and his wife Julie Yates, Director of Alumnae/i Relations and Annual Giving, took a trip to China to meet with the parents of some of our international students.
Tim and Julie took the opportunity to talk about the progress and accomplishments of students whose parents rarely have the opportunity to visit campus and sometimes never have the opportunity to even speak with their child’s teachers. While there, they also had the chance to explore China’s culture and heritage. Visits to the Temple of Heaven, the hutong of Beijing, the Bund in Shanghai, and Yu Gardens with alumnae/i and the families of current students helped to paint a picture of the depth of Chinese culture while strengthening relationships with our international family.
“I think it was a fabulous experience to learn more about the rich history of China,” says Tim, “and the hospitality of the parents was incredible.”
WMS’s Chinese students are a vital part of our School’s community and so China has worked its way into The White Mountain School’s global community. It is so important to us to be able to reach out to the parts of our community that can’t always come to us, and Tim and Julie’s recent trip to China was a wonderful and educational experience.
