Last Show of the Season

Our Winter Sports season is coming to an end, but there’s still enough time to catch one more performance by our dance and theater students this Friday!
WMS’s Theater Program has another great show ready for us this Friday after our Winter Sports Awards ceremony and community dinner. After a few weeks of cryptic emails requesting props such as a walker, a mime costume, and a large burlap sack, the whole School is curious to see what they’ve got planned for us this time.

The night begins with the year’s first performance by our amazing and talented dancers. First, Katherine Desimine ’15, Teresa Scalley ’15, Katie Wolfe ’13, and Mandy Mu ’14 will be performing “In 2 Deep,” with choreography by Veronica Factory. Then, Ericia Bramwel ’16l and Tara Brooks ’14 from this semester’s Intro to Dance class show the skills they’ve picked up in the last few weeks with their own class-choreographed dance “B-B-B Baby.” Finally, Katherine, Teresa, and Katie return to the stage with the haunting “Brotsjor,” choreographed by our own Kathy Kohatsu.

This will be followed with a series of monologues by students in our theater classes and after-school theater program, including Johanna Pastoriza ’16 (“The Whale”, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), Katie Wolfe (“Mary”, Living at Home), Andy Lara ’14 (“Brandon”, How Not to Talk to a Girl), Josh Rosado ’14 (“Patrick”, Girl Trouble) and Danny Hierro ’13 (“The Actor”, The Audition).

The evening will finish with Check Please, a fast-paced and hysterical short play about the hazards of blind dates. As the show’s official synopsis describes it, “Dating can be hard. Especially when your date happens to be a raging kleptomaniac, or your grandmother’s bridge partner, or a mime. Check Please follows a series of blind dinner dates that couldn’t get any worse — until they do. Could there possibly be a light at the end of the tunnel?” We hope so, and we’re excited to see it in action!

The cast is Payge Emerson ‘15, Harris Rothman ‘15, Danny Hierro ‘13, Ally Sholtz ‘16, Dilruba Sakhizada ‘15, Rachael Moss ‘15, Linsday Palya ‘15, Ross MacFadyen ‘15, Brian McGovern ‘13, and Coltrane Stagg (faculty kid). Lights by Sam Dattilo ‘14.
The show is at 7 o’clock on Friday, February 29th. Please join us at the last theater performance of the winter sports season!
