Meet Our Ambassador, Pyper

Throughout the school year we take some time to introduce our student Ambassadors. WMS Ambassadors lead busy lives at school. In addition to managing their coursework and participating in a wide range of sports, arts programs, clubs, and service opportunities, they make time to help with admission tours and alumnae/i and development requests.

This month’s featured Ambassador is Pyper Williams ’18. Pyper, a tenth grader and day student, is an avid actress (as you’ll see below) who takes full advantage of performing arts options at WMS. We hope you enjoy her interview.

How did you find your way at WMS?

I found my way at WMS by finding great friends and asking TONS of questions. Also, by asking for help and not being shy!

Describe your transition to WMS.

My transition to WMS was good in most ways. As for people, everyone at WMS made it so easy for me and always made me feel welcomed. Some things made it tough, such as having to leave my old school and friends and go to a place where I didn’t know anyone. Although that was tough, I wouldn’t have changed anything,¬†and I definitely do not regret my choice!

What classes are you taking?

I am taking Spanish ll, World History ll, Geometry, English ll, Chemistry, and Theater.

What activities do you do outside of classes?

I do theater (mostly), and Hiking and Fitness.

Who is your favorite teacher or what is your favorite class, sport, or activity? Why do you love it?

My favorite activity is theater! I love theater because acting is my passion. I love it because it gives me a chance to express myself. Theater class and “sport” give me great opportunities to learn a lot as I look towards my future.

Best dining hall item or meal?

Grilled Cheese or Chicken Tenders.

What are the most special characteristics of our School?

Definitely the community and the people here. It is such a tight community and everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

What is your advice for new students?

My advice for new students is to be yourself and don’t be afraid to talk to people because everyone will be welcoming to you!

What have you learned about yourself at WMS?

I have learned that I am really passionate about acting, and I have learned that I can do great things, no matter what.

What are you going to miss the most about WMS when you move on to college in a few years?

I will definitely miss the tight community and the people here and how small it is. It seems like college is really big and that will be very different from WMS.

What are your plans/hopes for the future? Have any opportunities at WMS helped form those plans and what were they?

My plans for the future are to go to college and move on to be a successful and well known actress in movies and on TV. WMS really helped me with this because I take a theater class every semester, and I’ve learned so much! I especially appreciate all the experience from the many plays we do.

Proudest accomplishment at WMS:

My proudest accomplishment was when I had the lead in a play that I really loved. It was really fun and definitely something I will never forget.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us, Pyper!
