Sam Conant ‘13, Alice Oloo ‘13, Katie Wolfe ‘13, Donglin Li ‘13, Max Horowitz ‘14, Jenzhu Feng ‘14, Shihao Chen ‘14, Eduardo Centeno ‘14, Lindsey Payla ‘15 and Katherine Desimine ‘15 joined the eight other students previously in NHS at The White Mountain School. National Honor Society selection is based on excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service.
The White Mountain School (WMS) not only recognizes our National Honor Society Students for past accomplishments, but also challenges them to further develop their strengths through continuous immersion in community service projects and in the life of the school. This year, the 2012-2013 White Mountain School Chapter of the National Honor Society volunteered as elves for the NH Literacy Project, organized Christmas Caroling at a nearby nursing home, raised money to support the Access Fund, volunteered with the Bethlehem Elementary School Recreation Program, and spearheaded WMS’s participation in Bethlehem’s annual Road-Side Clean-Up Day.
Individually, this year’s NHS members volunteered in an adaptive sports program, raised money for cleft palate surgeries for children in China, served food in soup kitchens in Boston, and built houses in the Dominican Republic. At The White Mountain School, they were key in organizing and implementing important events such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day and International Night. They also held numerous leadership positions, working as proctors in the dormitories, crew supervisors, student assistants and leaders of Field Courses and captains of sports teams. And they have done all this while maintaining excellent grades – Congratulations to WMS National Honor Society members!
