College Decision Day

WMS seniors are shoring up their final college decisions this week. May 1st is National College Decision Day, the deadline for accepted students to make commitments to their colleges/universities of choice. Nearly every White Mountain School senior has made his or her decision about the school he or she will be attending next year. Only a couple of students remain torn between a few schools, and you’ll find them talking over their thoughts with advisors and friends on campus.

This year, 70 different colleges and universities offered acceptances to the class of 2016. Some seniors will enter small liberal art colleges. Among the schools welcoming WMS students this fall you will find Trinity College, Denison University, St. Lawrence University, and Lewis and Clark College. Other seniors have selected single-sex schools like Bryn Mawr and Mount Holyoke. Still others are headed to larger research-based institutions and universities like the University of California, Berkeley, Tufts, the University of Connecticut, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, the University of Maryland, and Penn State University. And a few have selected focused programs/schools for art (School of the Art Institute of Chicago), outdoor education (Prescott College), and military preparation (Norwich University).

On Monday, White Mountain School seniors and faculty members will be invited to show their college spirit by wearing apparel associated with the colleges they’ve committed to, or in the case of our teachers, attended. Stay tuned for photos from our National College Decision Day celebration.
