Inspired by the early applicants to our summer program and our decision to expand our White Mountain Climbing Camp options, we set out to find the best possible instructors for 2012

Back in December, with summer still several months away, we became excited with the inflow of high-level female climbers registering for the summer 2012 White Mountain Climbing Camp. To make sure we gave them the very best experience possible, we began recruiting top female climbing guides, who are also inspirational teachers and really fun people to work with. We are honored to have renowned climber, Janet Bergman joining our instructor team in the summer of 2012!

White Mountain Climbing Camp always has exceptional instructors; all are certified by The American Mountain Guides Association and some are faculty at The White Mountain School, but Janet Bergman is a different level of climber. Janet’s current passion for alpine rock climbing is rooted in her bouldering and big wall climbing background. She has completed first ascents of several mountains in India and Newfoundland, often on all-women teams. Between climbing adventures she works as an organizational development consultant for nonprofit organizations and also farms the land she and her husband, Freddie, (he is currently nominated for the Piolet d’Or – the highest climbing award in the world) own in Madison, New Hampshire.

Janet was a full time year-round climbing instructor for the EMS Climbing School in North Conway from 2004-2009 and she is currently a professional climber who volunteers as a climbing instructor for Kismet Rock Foundation while teaching independently and conducting clinics at Mountain Hardwear events. Janet is a sponsored, professional athlete–check her out at Mountain Hardwear and La Sportiva.   Take a look at Janet’s blog here. We are honored that Janet has decided to take a break from her normal routine to help us inspire our students and provide them with the most comprehensive climbing experience available to adolescents in this country.

After having a couple of years with a waiting list for climbing camp, we have expanded while still maintaining our 3 to 1 student to instructor ratio. We are amazed at how quickly we are filling up but still have several spaces left in the first week, July 7 – 15th and a few in the second week July 15 – 21. These weeks can also be combined for an awesome immersion in the sport of rock climbing.
