WMS Hosts The Frost Place Conference on Poetry

White Mountain School was again the proud host of The Frost Place’s annual Conference on Poetry. Nearly 50 poets convened on campus for this year’s workshops.
This year’s Conference on Poetry was again a huge success. The week-long program included boarding and meals on campus and daily workshops and readings. The faculty for the Conference are among the top in their fields. They included: Martha Rhodes, Vievee Francis, Rodney Jones, Matthew Olzmann, Ellen Dore Watson, Jamaal May and Jay Baron Nicorvo.

Conference goers ranged widely in experience. Some of our guests were just starting as writers or joined us from college or MFA programs. But there were also quite a few participants who are already published poets. It was an impressive group of people to see immersed in their passion for study on campus.

At an end-of-the-week reception at Dickey House (the Head of School’s home), there were rave reviews about all aspects of the week from teaching and critiquing, to housing and meals. The Frost Place Conference on Poetry provides participants with a unique opportunity to live alongside faculty members, to share meals with them, to go to evening readings with them and to spend time with them outside of class- a true reflection of everyday life in a close-knit boarding school community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this great week of poetry! We look forward to welcoming The Frost Place back to campus this August for their Poetry Seminar. Learn more here.
