White Mountain School Sport Climbers Taite Blais ‘15 and Tyson McGrew ’15 are going to New Jersey next month to participate in the USA Climbing American Bouldering Series Divisional Competition on January 11th and 12th. Located in Upper Saddle River, NJ at the Gravity Vault Climbing Gym, the competition is sure to be intense. If Taite and Tyson perform well at Divisionals, they will have the opportunity compete at Youth Nationals at the end of February.

Sport Climbing coach Nadya Vorotnikova says, “I’m very proud with both Tyson and Taite for making it to Divisionals in American Bouldering Series this year. Tyson is so determined, I don’t believe he missed a day of practice this season, and has worked diligently to get to where he is today in a very short period of time that he’s been climbing. He always asks me for more difficult workouts to get him stronger. One of his greatest strengths is his power, and ability to do dynamic moves to terrible holds, and somehow find the strength to hold on like a superhero. Taite, who has been climbing and competing for several years, has fingers of steel and incredible technique. Her ability to focus when she is climbing something very difficult is also a great strength of hers, which helps her immensely during competitions.”

Taite and Tyson’s dedication to their sport is truly inspiring and we wish them all the luck in the world at Divisionals next month!
