This summer we are excited to have the Frost Place Conference on Poetry, Creative Edge Dance Studio, and White Mountain Climbing Camp back to campus.
Frost Place Conference on Poetry
Each year, White Mountain is thrilled to host the Frost Place Conference on Poetry. During this “intensive poetry camp” participants attend workshops, classes and lectures to learn more about the craft of writing poetry in a supportive environment. Writers come far and wide to the spend a week with the world-class Frost Place faculty members.
This year, Martha Rhodes returned as the director and faculty member of The Frost Place’s Conference on Poetry, she is the author of five poetry collections: The Thin Wall (forthcoming in 2017). She has directed the Conference on Poetry since 2010 and is a former member of the board of trustees of The Frost Place. She teaches at the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College and at Sarah Lawrence College.
Summer Dance Sampler – Creative Edge Dance Studio
This summer, we welcomed Dinah Gray to White Mountain in time for the Summer Dance Sampler Day camp facilitated by Creative Edge Dance Studio (CEDS) instructors and advanced dancers which included White Mountain student, Sabrina Ollerman ‘19. Thirty-four campers from ages 5-12 spent the week rotating through Ballet, Jazz and Tap dance classes in the morning and spent afternoons participating in outdoor games, arts and crafts and unstructured play. This gave campers who dance together most of the year at CEDS to really get to know one another outside of structured dance practice.
White Mountain Climbing Camp
White Mountain School Climbing Camp is directed this summer by White Mountain Sport Climbing Coach, Travis Rubury. Travis is joined by a team of skilled instructors from all over New England with the additional help of student intern, Taggart Cole ‘20.
Twenty-five campers settled into the White Mountain campus to spend two full weeks honing in on their outdoor sport climbing, traditional leading, and technical skills. Each climber has the opportunity to embark on a multipitch adventure up the neighboring Cannon, Cathedral, and Whitehorse cliffs.
